New Staff Dedicated to Legal Help Related to Flooding
The new LSV lawyer and paralegal are helping Vermonters who were affected by this summer's flooding.
Legal Services Vermont (LSV) has two new staff members on board who are dedicated to helping Vermonters impacted by flooding this summer.
The LSV lawyer and paralegal can help with:
applying to FEMA
appealing FEMA decisions
dealing with insurance problems
applying for SBA loans for individuals
accessing Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)
understanding your rights as a tenant, and
exploring other sources of funding.
To get help, Vermonters should call 1-800-889-2047 and press option 4 for our flood-related hotline. Also visit https://VTLawHelp.org/flooding for information and a referral for help.
LSV is also holding free, walk-in Flood Legal Assistance Clinics in towns that experienced flooding. See the schedule online.
The new staff are funded by a disaster grant from the Legal Services Corporation, based in Washington, DC. Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1974 to provide financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans.
