VTDigger Interviews LSV Attorney About Tenants Struggling to Claim Deposits

Vermonters losing their shelter this summer — as the state winds down COVID-era hotel motel programs — face another obstacle: getting their state-funded $3,300 deposits back.

One group of hotels is asking tenants to sign away their rights to the cash in exchange for $500. LSV's Mark Hengstler says this clearly violates state rules.

People who are signing these documents are doing so “under duress,” Hengstler said.
